Score viewer for CPDL work pages

New in this version: the viewer names the voice that is out of step, has an Analysis tab, finds music other works share with any bars you select, lets readers suggest corrections, and shows the reports from CPDL’s discussion pages at their bar. See What’s new.

These are static copies of 38 ChoralWiki (CPDL) work pages, taken from the public wiki dump of 12 November 2020, with one line added: the script CPDL would put into MediaWiki:Common.js. It adds a View & listen button next to each edition. The viewer opens the score in place — engraved from MusicXML where there is one, or the PDF — plays it back by voice, marks bars where editions disagree or a bar does not add up, finds similar works, and searches all of CPDL by melody or sung text. The pages, the viewer and the data are served by Cloudflare for this demo; the real CPDL site is not changed and is not contacted except when you follow a link to it.

On the real CPDL site: drag this link to your bookmarks bar, open any CPDL work page and click it.

A motet with two editions: read the score, listen, hear one voice on its own, find similar works.

What’s new

The viewer now names the voice that is out of step in a bar, notices parts written in an unusual clef or octave, has an Analysis tab (voice ranges, how the words are set, suspensions), finds music that other works share with any bars you select, lets readers suggest corrections, and shows the reports posted on CPDL’s discussion pages at their bar. Each page below shows one of them.

Demo: who can do what

Try the viewer as different readers: not signed in, signed in on CPDL, the editor of an edition, or with an ab|takt account.

Demo: reports from the CPDL discussion

See the reports from the CPDL discussion pages in the viewer: at their bar, merged with a found difference, or for the whole edition; use a suggested reading, switch between original and corrected, and try the note for the discussion.

Spot possible mistakes

Pencil marks show where two editions disagree, where the voices of a bar do not add up, or where a note looks wrong. Open the Issues tab to step through them.

Compare editions

Works with several editions: switch between them and see where they differ.

Masses and other long works

Works published one movement at a time: each movement has its own View & listen button.

Scores that are only a PDF

No playable version: the PDF opens in the viewer, and you can still search the collection.

Scores kept on CPDL

Their licence does not allow a copy here. On CPDL itself the viewer opens these straight from the page; on this demo site CPDL does not allow that, so you get a link to the PDF on CPDL instead.
