Demo: reports from the CPDL discussion

Some CPDL editions carry a boxed note under their row saying that someone reported a possible problem, with the details on the discussion page. The viewer reads those reports from the 2020 copy of CPDL and shows them in the Issues tab, quoted and signed as their writers posted them. This demo has no live connection to CPDL, so it shows the 2020 reports and the boxed notes of these pages only.

  1. A report at its bar

    Resonet in laudibus (Jacob Handl)
Open the Issues tab. A report that names a bar and a voice is marked in the score with a dashed pencil loop. Its item shows the writer’s words, their name and the date as signed, and a link to the post on CPDL.
  2. A report and a found difference in one item

Weiche Gräser im Revier, Op. 65, No. 8 (Johannes Brahms)
In the Brahms song, a report and a place where the two editions disagree point at the same bar. The viewer shows them as one item with both reasons, marked with a solid ring and a dashed outer ring, and counts it once.
  3. Reports for the whole edition

Weiche Gräser im Revier, Op. 65, No. 8 (Johannes Brahms)
A report that names no bar is listed at the top of the Issues list, under “Reported on CPDL for this edition”. The filter there shows all items, only the ones found here, or only the ones reported on CPDL.
  4. Use the suggested reading

    Resonet in laudibus (Jacob Handl)
When a report says which note to change, press “Use the suggested reading”. The bar is redrawn in pencil before you send it. The report and you count as two sources that agree, so the change is shown to everyone at once and checked again afterwards. If the file already has what the report asks for, press “This file is already right”.
  5. Original and corrected

    Resonet in laudibus (Jacob Handl)
Above the score, the “Original” and “Corrected (1)” buttons switch between the file as it is on CPDL and the score with the accepted changes. Changed notes are marked in both: in pencil in the corrected score, and in the original with a dashed loop and the new note, for example “now D4”.
  6. The fixes link on the page

    Resonet in laudibus (Jacob Handl)
Once an edition has an accepted change, reload the page: its row shows a “1 fix” link next to the download icons. Press it to open the viewer on the corrected score. A middle click downloads the corrected file instead.
  7. A note for the CPDL discussion

    Resonet in laudibus (Jacob Handl)
After you use a suggested reading or confirm a report, the viewer offers “Add a note to the CPDL discussion”. The note is shown in a box you can edit freely, and it is posted only when you press “Post note”, signed with your CPDL account. In this demo nothing goes to CPDL or anywhere else: pressing “Post note” ends with “Demo: nothing was posted.”
